Candle Care Guide: How to Burn a Candle Evenly and Make It Last

A few simple habits can help a candle burn more evenly and last longer. Fantasy Flameworks candles use our proprietary blend of coconut, apricot, and beeswax, so room temperature, drafts, and burn habits can all affect performance.

Trim the Wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to about one-quarter inch. A wick that is too long can create a larger flame, more soot, and a faster burn.

Let the First Burn Develop

On the first few burns, allow the melted wax to spread broadly across the surface before extinguishing the candle. This helps reduce tunneling and unused wax around the sides.

Avoid Drafts

Keep the candle away from fans, vents, open windows, and busy walkways. Moving air can push the flame to one side and cause uneven melting.

Let It Cool

Allow the wax to cool and become solid before relighting. Once cool, trim the wick again.

Burn Safely

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it away from children, pets, drafts, and anything that can catch fire, and follow the safety instructions on the label.

Our coconut, apricot, and beeswax blend may change slightly in appearance with room temperature. That is normal for a softer blended wax.
